Get ready for SacSings! 2015 – The Sacramento Choral Festival

Mark your calendar for June 13-14, 2015!

After a successful launch last June, SacSings! is returning to the Harris Center at Folsom Lake College.  It will be two days full of great choral singing:  20 choruses performing in 4 concerts. It’s a remarkable opportunity to discover – in one place and over a short period of time – the true choral artistry that has been going on largely out of the public spotlight.

A little known fact is there are dozens of independent choruses in the Sacramento Valley. A few are widely known, drawing thousands to their concerts each year. But what of the rest?  Last June, SacSings! audiences were delighted to discover wonderful choral music from local groups they had never heard of.  This coming June, many of those groups will be returning and others will be appearing for the first time. This annual showcase is the best  place and time to discover the great choral music you have been missing.  Return to this page in the coming months for details about participating choruses and tickets.

SacSings! is just one of many projects undertaken by the Sacramento Valley Choral Coalition, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting choruses and choral singing in the greater Sacramento area.  Follow us on Facebook or Twitter or better yet, send a message to singerlist@sacsings.org to receive our monthly newsletter.

Concert review of The Vocal Art Ensemble from The Sacramento Choral Calendar

A delight for the ears and eyes! Impressive from the first is that all the music is memorized, second is the enthusiastic performance in both voice and body, third is the incredibly accurate pronunciation of many different languages, fourth is the incorporation of much movement to the music.

Concert review of the Davis Chorale from The Sacramento Choral Calendar

This was an enjoyable evening of music from one of the few Sacramento-area choruses dedicated to classical and neo-classical music. An enthusiastic audience was in attendance at Brunelle Hall, a jewel of a performance facility and a treasure for the Davis community.

Concert review of Vox Musica from The Sacramento Choral Calendar

The idea behind this concert, subtitled "New Music for Women's Voices," was to present new compositions by local composers.  To source these new compositions, a competition was held over the past several months.
